Waldorf Childcare

Sunflower Hill Child Care was founded in 2003. We are a Lifeway's and Waldorf inspired daycare, with a healthy, holistic approach to childcare.  We believe that the experiences of early childhood help lay the foundation for the child's future learning and interest in the world. Our program is designed to encourage and support their healthy development.

At Sunflower Hill we take pride in creating an environment that is warm, nurturing, and non-institutional. We are a non-denominational center. In 2014 Kathy O’Connor, a long time employee and the director, became owner of Sunflower. Kathy began her career in early childhood education in 1994.

Our environment is beautiful, non-cluttered, clean, and safe. Our toys are carefully chosen, mostly made from natural materials, and designed to foster the child’s developing imagination. Children are able to explore the environment at their own pace, without feeling hurried or pressured. Young children learn through exploration, which lays the foundation for interest and wonder in the world.

Our Mission

Our goal is to provide a safe and enriching experience for children through their early developmental years. Children are unique with different interests, developmental abilities, temperaments, energy levels, as well as levels of comfort. Sunflower Hill Child Care is dedicated to exploring each child's own individuality and spiritual being.  Our goal, supported through our program, is to address each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development in a homelike and nurturing environment where children feel free to explore the world around them.
